On behalf of the Board of Education, I welcome you to the Township of Franklin School District web site. The Township of Franklin Public School District is a PSD-6 district located in the southeast corner of Gloucester County.  The district enrollment is approximately 1480 students.  Selected pre-school students attend Lake School. K-2 students attend Mary F. Janvier School, while grades 3-6 students attend either Main Road School or Caroline L. Reutter School.  A small addition, which will include a new computer lab as well as several small group instruction rooms, has been approved for Caroline L. Reutter School and should be completed in spring, 2008. Franklin Township students continue their middle and high school education at the Delsea Regional School District.

The Township of Franklin School District offers full service regular education and special education programs in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. The district is also committed to educating the “whole” child by providing instruction in music, art, physical education, library education, basic skills, world language, and computer literacy.  A Gifted and Talented Program is offered to eligible students. Band, chorus, art, and physical education clubs are offered as extra-curricular activities.

The Township of Franklin realizes that a strong foundation in elementary school is integral to students’ success in middle and high school. Therefore, reading, writing and math skills are taught through a standards-based approach emphasizing technology integration, problem solving, and real world scenarios. Early intervention programs, such as Reading Recovery, are utilized in conjunction with data-driven instruction to ensure any gaps in instruction and learning are identified and addressed.

Students are taught emotional, behavioral, and social skills in a safe and secure environment that promotes respect for one another, diversity, and service to the community. Parents are an integral part of their child’s education and are included through committees, surveys, and participation in school activities.

Safety of our children and staff is a top priority. Safety plans are coordinated with the local police and regional districts to ensure compliance with all county and state guidelines. Multiple safety drills are conducted throughout the year as a proactive measure in dealing with any emergencies.

The Township of Franklin Board of Education is very proud of the accomplishments of our students and staff and we invite you to review the information presented for each of our schools. If you have any questions or comments, you can contact me via e-mail at the following address:  mkozak@franklintwpschools.org.
