Mrs. Hoffman Second Grade
![]()

March is another very exciting month in second grade. We have many celebrations planned for all the special days this month as well as welcoming spring and the warm weather! During the first week of March, we will be celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday and "Read across America." We will read some of our favorite Dr. Seuss books including "Green Eggs and Ham." We might even try some of our very own "Green Eggs and Ham." St. Patrick's Day will bring a fun day of crafts, activities, games, food, and lots of GREEN! Don't forget to wear green on March 17th and be on the lookout for leprechauns on the loose! We are currently working on chapter 7 in our math books. The children are learning how to tell time to the hour, half hour, and quarter hour and build a better understanding of time. Please have your child practice telling time at home on analog clocks. The students did a wonderful job counting money last month. It would be very beneficial to continue to have them counting money at home. Our star student program continues to bring us fun and exciting activities in our classroom. The children are enjoying learning about their classmates and having visitors come to our classroom. Thank you to Mrs. Conti for reading ”The Sneeteches” by Dr. Seuss to our class , Ms. Bittle for making a Valentine’s Day craft, and Ms. Parson for reading a chapter of “A Diary of a Wimpy Kid.” March is the last month for the “Be a Phanatic about Reading Program.” Don’t forget to turn in the baseball calendars for the month of March. Awards will be given to the students who met each monthly goal. We will be having a celebration picnic sometime in April. Thank you again for all your support. If you have any questions or concerns at any time about your child's education, please feel free to contact me via letter, email, or phone.
