Happy New Year!! I am feeling great and I am so excited to be back!! Can you believe it's January 5, 2009? It will take some time to get used to writing 2009!! However, I'm sure the children are ready to start off the New Year on the right foot! I'd like to thank Mrs. Price, who did a fantastic job with the children. We kept in close contact over the last two months and I was very pleased with her smooth continuation of the curriculum. Our themes for the month include winter, New Year, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and of course Inauguration Day!! As always, please try to provide as much reinforcement as possible at home and listen to your child read, read, read!!! Those minutes spent working with your child each day make such a big difference in his or her daily performance!! In Math, we will be working on graphing along with our addition and subtraction facts. We are into our third book in Reading. Both the stories and the skills are becoming more difficult. In Spelling, we will continue with our weekly lists. We will be discussing verbs and verb tenses in Grammar. Please continue to stress neatness in all areas!! Please take note of the following reminders: Remember to send in a snack for your child daily; Please remove and review all daily work from the folders; Completed written homework should be returned in the homework folder the following day; All lunch money should be in a clearly marked envelope or change purse; Finally, please dress your child appropriately for the colder weather as we do go outside for recess if it isn't too cold!! Once again, thank you for all you do!! Please let me know if you have a problem, concern, or need my help in any way. I wish to extend a very happy, healthy New Year to all of you!!
