Along with March comes a variety of fun-filled activities. Our themes for March will include Read Across America with Dr. Seuss celebrating his birthday, Drug Awareness, St. Patrick's Day, and the arrival of spring!!! The harsh winter has forced us to remain indoors for recess. Although I am a real snow lover, I must admit that I will welcome the warmer weather with open arms!! However, it's great that the children got to experience a truly "old fashioned" snowstorm or two or three or four!!! Our Valentine Party was simply fanrtastic!! Thank you so much for all the donations. Thanks also to our wonderful Room-Moms for helping out. The children loved opening their cards as well. The "Valentine Mailboxes" were all spectacular!! Everyone really enjoyed designing them. I hope you enjoyed spending some quality time with your child as well. We had a little break from our usual routine as we celebrated the "100th Day of School." The children switched classes and participated in various activities dealing with the number 100. We celebrated "Read Across America" in the same manner. These special days were enjoyed by teachers as well as students. In Reading, we are well into our third book. The stories continue to get longer and the skills are becoming increasingly difficult. Please review all completed work and listen to your child read on a daily basis!! This is crucial during these early years of the child's education as it fosters a genuine love of reading. In Math, we are working on our difficult chapter on money. Your child should be able to recognize and know the value of the penny, nickel, dime, quarter, and dollar. It would be quite helpful to have your child practice counting mixed coins at home. I continue to enjoy working with your children each day. I love their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn!! They are progressing in leaps and bounds!! Thanks again for all you do as well!! Please contact me with any problems or concerns. Have a great month!!
