Mrs.J. Tipton RN School Nurse

The days are shorter and cooler. Fall is upon us. Those of you who have children with asthma are well aware of the effects of the weather change. (No matter how welcome it is). Remember, I can do a nebulizer treatment in school. Just need the doctor note, the medication to remain in school in the original container, and an adult to bring in the medicine. NO MEDS ON THE BUS!.Vision and hearing screenings are almost done for 2nd grade. If you don't hear from me it means all is well.
Oct. is Halloween Party Month. Please, read those labels. No nuts or items made in a facility that processes nut for the classrooms where there is a child with a Peanut Allergy.
Around the 16th of the month we will begin our Thanksgiving Food Drive. The children love to bring items in for our less fortunate neighbors and what a great lesson in giving.
Our school usually feed about 15 families. Hats off to you all!!!Fluoride Mouthrinse will begin on Thurs. Oct. 9th.
Its never too late to sign up. Just send in a written note giving your child permission to participate. If you were at Back-to-School Night, you know that I am retiring on 10/31/08 (Halloween - how befitting). It has been a wonderful facet of my nursing career. Than you for the privilege of caring for you children all these year. I have learned much from them. Thank you for being such wonderful, co-operative and caring parents. I will miss you!
