Second Grade

March is another very busy month in Second Grade with lots to celebrate!!

During the first week of March, we will celebrate Dr. Seuss's Birthday and Read Across America. For Dr. Seuss's Birthday, we will read a different Dr. Seuss book each day and complete a fun activity. A letter will be sent home with more information on this exciting week!

St. Patrick's Day will be filled with lots of crafts, activities, games, food, fun, and lots of GREEN! Don't forget to wear GREEN on March 17th, and beware of leprechauns on the loose!

In Math, we will begin Chapter 7 on Time. The students will begin how to tell time to the hour, half hour, and quarter hour and build a better understanding of time. Please have your child practice these skills at home on both a digital and an analog clock.

In Reading, we continue in our unit on Our Changing World. Our phonics and spelling will focus on plural nouns and the long vowel sounds. In Grammar, we will continue to adjectives.

Our "Spotlight On..." Program is in full swing. The students enjoy the opportunity to learn more about their classmates.

The book-in-a-bag program has also started off very well. Please continue to encourage your children to read at least 15 minutes each night. We are so proud of their independent reading and keep up the great work!

Please continue to check your student’s homework folders daily for homework that needs to be checked, tests to be signed, or other papers that need to be returned. Also, please continue to sign the assignment book daily. Please feel free to write any quick notes to us whenever necessary as we will be checking these assignment books daily!

Also, this year we will be having snack daily, so please remember to pack a healthy snack for your child each day!
