Mrs. DiRaddo's Class Happy New Year!
![]()

I hope you had a very happy holiday! I wish you all the best for a happy and healthy new year as well!
We are ready to get 2009 off to a great start! This "New Year" brings many new lessons and fun activities.
We continue to move forward in our reading series. We are still working with blends and digraphs at the start of 2009, but near the end of the month we will begin with our first long vowel sound - long a - in our story "Snakes". Please be advised that each week the stories increase in length and difficulty, as do the spelling words. Your continued support and practice at home truly helps in your child's success.
The new year brings about many opportunities for learning. Although we continue to move on in each of our subject areas, we will also be learning about other important events as well. We will be learning about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as the observence of his birthday approaches. We will also be learning about Winter Weather and Polar Animals throughout the month.
As always, thank you for all you do! Your children are doing a great job and I look forward to a wonderful 2009!
