Mr. MacDonald

Everyone returned from the holidays rested and ready to work!. In reading, our class has been focusing on using contextual clues to help identify the meaning of unfamiliar words. In language arts, we continue to work on writing skills with an emphasis on speculative and explanatory writing. NJ ASK will be here before you know it! In math, our classes have been working on fractions. We completed equivalencies and simplification. Now we are working on adding with common denominators. We continue to practice old skills just so we don't forget! In social studies, our class has been working on latitude and longitude, as well as using a variety of maps to identify location, topography, and time zones. We have also been learning about the American Revolution. We 'aged' our own paper and created an 'old' document listing grievances against King George III. In science we have been investigating invertebrate life forms. We learned about jelly fish and sea urchins, and made models using yarn, toothpicks and styrofoam. Next on the agenda will be vertebrates.
