1/26-bullying assemblyDuring this month, we will explore the magic of mathematics, discover the mysteries of science and follow the paths of history. There is much to be learned and many new fascinating memories to be made. My goal is to provide all the necessary tools to make this year a positive and successful one, while preparing for the responsibilities, skills and demands required for middle school. The curriculum this month: Math- Venturing into the world of fractions in Bit and Pieces I. Students will be given an instructional guide to refer to as the unit progresses, Please keep it to help with assignments throughout our investigations. In order to perpare for the upcoming NJ ASK Testing in May we have practice every Tuesday and Thursday. Fridays are devoted to the open-ended testing portion of the test. Through these carefully generated (OEQ), we can practice on applying and conveying strategies learned in order to receive the most points per question. Please be aware that attendance is important during these practices in order for the students to gain the confidence, skills, and strategies needed to achieve the greatest amount of success on the NJ ASK TEST.
(Just a reminder that extra help can be received during enrichment if needed at any time.)Enrichment-This time is used for extra help and completing long-term and/or short-term assignment that are due. Often there will be an assignment given with about a week's time frame to complete and submit. The enrichment board always contains these types of assignments with their due dates, and provides easy access to materials with daily visual reminders. It is important for students to maximize the potential that this period presents. Sciene-Exploring the structure and function of cells and DNA. Social Studies- American History, the western hemisphere. Health- We will investigate the components of Health and Wellness, along with the responsibilities that maintaining health and wellness require. Classes will be held on either Mondays and Fridays or Thursdays and Fridays schedule permitting. In addition, students will be assigned current events articles or journal entries that will be due on assigned Fridays. These assignments will be graded and incorporated into either their Social Studies, Health or Science grade. Remember to keep the communication open.
