Welcome to the Mary F. Janvier Elementary School webpage. Our school is a place where all children have the opportunity to learn in a nurturing yet academically challenging environment. All students have the opportunity for success at Mary F. Janvier as they are instructed by an experienced, dynamic staff that is committed towards meeting each child’s needs. Student creativity and curiosity are developed and used in the maintenance of an active learning environment that promotes cooperation and builds student confidence through positive communication.
As the educational leader of Mary F. Janvier Elementary School, I believe that it is essential that a strong school – community relationship exists. Parent involvement in their child’s learning is needed and the use of community resources must occur in a manner that reinforces the importance of education and emphasizes a supportive environment that will aid in each student attaining their full potential. The instructional foundation at Mary F. Janvier Elementary School emphasizes that all students can learn and achieve, students need an appropriately challenging academic environment to grow, and learning is a process.
Approximately, 570 students in grades K-2 receive daily classroom instruction by educators who utilize current strategies to foster growth in the target areas of literacy and mathematics. Technological resources, including computers and Smart Boards are used in a relevant manner. Science, Social Studies, and Health are woven into instruction both formally and informally with students also participating in weekly Library, Art, Music, Spanish, and Physical Education lessons. The Mary F. Janvier Elementary School staff is committed towards providing educationally rich experiences for our children with the goal of leading our students towards the acquisition of skills that will serve them throughout their lifetime.
