Happy New Year!
This month we will be learning the importance of proper hand washing during health class. Students will learn that germs are everywhere and can make you sick. Even though they cannot be seen, you can get rid of germs by washing your hands. Hand washing needs to be reinforced several times throughout the day in addition to our health lessons. In Science we are learning about animals and their habitats. Students will learn to recognize a varitey of animals and their homes. They will learn to recognize how animals get their food and tell what kinds of things animals eat. They will also learn about what animals do in the cold winter months to survive. A study guide will accompany the lesson, please remind your child to study. The life of Martin Luther King Jr. will be a topic for discussion in our Social Studies lessons. Students will learn facts about his life through a variety of books and activities. For enrichment in Language Arts, we will complete an author study. The featured author is a children's favorite Jan Brett. We will continue to read books written by Jan Brett and will learn about her life as an author and illustrator. Thanks for letting me share our classroom activities with you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Simmons
