January 2012
Happy New Year! Some of our Health lessons focus on teaching students good hand washing habits. Germs are everywhere, especially in school where children share tables, computers and eat with their hands. WHen are the best times to remind them to wash their hands?
Before touching food.
After using the bathroom.
After blowing their nose or coughing.
After touching pets.
After playing outside.
We discourage students from putting their fingers in their mouth or nose. When your child is ready to "scrub up" washing shold be done with soap and water. We encorage them to lather up both sides of their hands, writst, and between their fingers. Scrubbing time should last 15-30 seconds. Rinse and dry with a clean towel. Here's to a "Healthy New Year."
Sincerely,
Mrs. Simmons
