Food Services

Parents and Guardians,

We are happy to provide further details regarding the Food Service Offering during the State-wide closure of schools due to the health-related issue of Coronavirus. During the closure, we are proactively continuing to support the nutritional needs of students. As guided by State and Federal authorities, those families with students identified as eligible for free and reduced meal pricing were notified of the food service offering via phone call and email.

As of Monday, March 30, 2020, lunches will be available for pick-up at the Janvier School on Mondays and Wednesdays only. Also beginning on Monday, March 30, 2020, meals will be delivered to eligible students’ previously coordinated bus stops.

The details of the Food Service Offering are as follows:

Who:   All Township of Franklin Public School students identified as eligible for free/reduced meal pricing
What:   Lunch only - 2 meals provided on Monday ; 3 meals provided on Wednesday
      When:   Pick-up and Delivery: 10:00am - 12:00pm ; Mondays and Wednesdays
Where:   Pick-up: Mary F. Janvier School (1532 Pennsylvania Ave., Franklinville, NJ)
      How:

Pick-up: Eligible participants are being asked to come to the parking lot adjacent to the Administration Building. Orange safety cones will be set up to form the “drive through” line close to the rear side door of the school. Eligible participants are being asked to stay in their vehicles while staff delivers the bagged meal to the vehicle. Verification will occur as participation/meal pick-up will be marked on roster sheets by cafeteria staff.

Delivery: Eligible participants are being asked to be present at the current bus stop for their student. Bus arrival times are being communicated to those families. Verification will be marked on roster sheets.

Please know that even if you are not in the free/reduced lunch program and you need food support, we are here to help. Contact your child’s school counselor or building principal if you need assistance. There is also a list of local food pantries posted on the Distance Learning web page.

Should your income status change through this situation and would like to confirm your participation, you should complete the free/reduced meal application that can be found here: Meal Application. You can also access and file a meal application within the Parent Portal, which can be found here: Parent Portal. Should you have any questions regarding the meal application and need to confirm participation within this offering, please contact Mrs. Donna Berkauzer at 856-629-9500 X1202.

The District is aiming to streamline the meal-prepping process while reducing waste, so it is imperative to have a more accurate count of those who will be participating.

Kindly note this process is still subject to change due to additional information and guidance as provided by State and Federal Authorities. Should anything change, communication will be sent as soon as possible.

Should you have questions about this process, offering and/or eligibility, or any other question, please contact Mrs. Tracy Coston - Food Service Director, at 856-629-9500 X1105.

Yours in education,

Mr. Troy Walton
Superintendent of Schools
